Since 2004, the Andrew Daniels Fish Stewardship Foundation has been working to improve the fish habitat in Lake of Bays and to nurture our precious fish stocks. We have funded studies to analyze the condition of tributaries and other breeding grounds, raised money for shoreline preservation projects and donated time and resources to the physical stabilization of shoreline areas critical to the health of young fish. Through our efforts, we have also raised awareness among the Lake of Bays community of the importance of protecting the streams, shoreline and quality of water so generations to come will enjoy fishing at beautiful Lake of Bays.

Our Mission

Our mission and purpose is to help protect fish habitat, fish regeneration and components of the Lake of Bays and Muskoka aquatic system including, but not limited to, water quality and shoreline stabilization.

Student Bursary

We provide a Bursary annually for any applicant pursuing post-secondary environmental studies

Like the canary in the coal mine, Brook Trout provide an early warning sign that there is a problem with the condition of a stream for breeding as Brook Trout are very sensitive to temperature and cannot breed if the water is too warm.
